russian doom/death/metal band

Band Info

Here is some old info concerning MELISSA

The debut album "In mourning" was released in August, 1995 on MetalAgen records and published by "Soyuz"corporation - the biggest music distributor in Russia. We are interested in publishing the album in Europe, because it is being sold only in Russia an d Poland.
The band joined in April 1992 in Obninsk, Russia, where is still based. Since then only two original members remained in the band - Paul Ginkin (guitar) and Nick Touzov (guitar, vocals). In August 1992 Paul Droban joined the band to make the kernel of it till the time being. Originally "Melissa" played thrash-metal with sort of traditional vocals, then gradually stepped into doom/death metal style, but didn't ignore any kind of music - one can hear some jazz melodies on the album "In mourning". Yet in December 1993 the band actually quit being the band - Paul D. went off to hard-rock band, Paul G. tried himself in jazz-rock, and Nick with Sergey joined a restaurant band. Things went this way for quite a time - so we can claim we have some music skills - it helps a lot for a musician to try himself in a different mood.
Speaking about musical influences - it's "Cynic" and "Queensryche", Chick Corea and "Extreme". We also all love, appreciate and respect King Diamond's music and outstanding skill of his musicians. In January 1995 we all gathered again to recollect all the pieces of our work - almost two years passed since we wrote the last song and performed on third "Death Rider" festival, organized by Agen Price - many thanx to him, who actually made us rejoin. And many thanx goes to David Mortimer-Hawkins, "Tiamat"'s manager in 1992- 1993 who has been in touch with us since 1993 and helped to keep working.
